I have read a lot. Why must I keep reading?

Response :

The issue of reading isn’t about the volume but about continuity, and this is because reading itself is a mind game – an exercise that helps keep the mind in good shape everyday and hence must be continuous.
So, when someone decides to stop reading because they feel they have read a lot, a number of things happen:

1. The individual becomes like still water-stagnant at his/her present level of growth. And as it is with still water, dirt accumulates, experience begins to fight what they know, and because there is no constant reminder of principles, the individual begins to live below what he/she knows, and also becomes reactive to situations.

2. Apps get updated, new models of cars are introduced periodically which make the old look mediocre in comparison. Reading works same way. Information is  progressive hence a person who only knows about yesterday would in today’s world live yesterday’s life and experience yesterday’s result, which is not the best possible outcome.

3. A quote from “The Greatest Salesman in The World” holds our last reason.  It is the lesson in the scroll marked “1.”
” And I make a solemn oath to myself that nothing will retard my new life’s growth.  I will lose not a day from these readings for that day can not be retrieved nor can I substitute another for it.  I must not, I will not, break this daily readings from these scrolls, and,  in truth, the few moments spent each day on this new habit are but a small price to pay for the happiness and success that will be mine. ”
These are a few reasons why you should continue reading. Success isn’t about the best of you yesterday but the very best you can be today.
